Back to School – 2017

Grant – Sophomore at FBISD Austin

BTS…Ready or Not!

Well…only one kiddo at home for BACK TO SCHOOL pics this year – and he cooperated. SO APPRECIATIVE. We are expecting a great year at FBISD Austin! Football has started strong and the Bulldogs’ first scrimmage is this Friday vs Foster (Lamar CISD). Looks like he’ll be playing tight end this year for the Bulldogs. He’s wrapped up summer reading for English (Lord of the Flies and The Book of Lost Things) PRIOR to the start of school, so as far as I’m concerned, he’s ahead of the game! Coursework is the “make or break ya” this year for Grant – fingers crossed. He’s ready! Not sure I am, but he sure is! Pray for all our high schoolers. Big decisions looming for college choices, sport choices, and ACADEMICS! Pray that they are given the chance to be KIDS. Plenty of time for adulating later.

Alex & Nash - Fish Camp 2017

Alex & Nash – Fish Camp 2017

Alex starts next week and is in FULL BLOWN “take care of fishes” mode. Another year of FISH CAMP is in the books and I pray that she continues to lead and be there for the freshman. She and Nash (DG Partner) helped get these freshman started off right! The just got back last Friday and they’ve already had one dinner with the Freshman. This is Howdy Week for Texas A&M and they are encouraging the freshmen to get out and learn MORE about the University!

You can see in these FC leaders’ eyes, how EXCITED they are to finally get going. The “L” sign is for CAMP LEWIS. These Aggie juniors were all in Camp Lewis together as freshmen. FUN to see them all together. One of the cool things about this “cult” called Fish Camp…you make life long friends. The time and effort…did I mention TIME? The TIME alone is amazing and this is an unpaid position and these leadership positions are hard to get. THOUSANDS of kids apply. Texas A&M is doing some BIG things, while brain-washing things yes, still they are very important, get you plugged into a great that can help you through the first semester of school (and longer) instead of just dumping you in what seems to be a 3 mile square block or smaller along with 60K of your closet friends….I just don’t see how people think that can work. Fish Camp is a HUGE part of keeping Aggies plugged in while they are at school. The University even added a Fish Camp session for athletes, which is awesome. Most of the time the athletes can’t get off (esp the fall sports) to go. I won’t mention any names, but in the past 2 years, we’ve gone to watch march-in or yell practice with a few athletes that were doing it for the first time. So much fun to watch their faces and say, “OH….I get it now.” Sad, but fun! Pray for these kids, for a great semester!

Chase & Stitch 2017

Chase & Stitch – Disney 2017

Chase is still at Camp Pendleton, working on “birds.” The language … we are learning! These birds sure do “piss” a lot of things. HA! SO BLESSED to have cell phones with video. I can’t imagine him being this far away and NOT being able to talk to him…I have to say, Chase is the best of the 3 about keeping in touch. SO appreciative! Maybe I’ll get a “first day of work” pic when he makes his next move! He gets to Disney every now and then to hang out with his friend, Stitch 🙂 Chase has ALWAYS loved Stitch. Pray for our military. These people, regardless of why they are there, give up a ton of what you and I take for granted, to defend this great Nation. This such a convoluted world that we live in. So selfish. So uninformed. So judgmental. Be nice. Be loyal to your country and its leaders whether you like them or not. Talk about the important stuff that goes on daily, during rants about our leaders. Life is passing some by!

Back to work here….have LOTS on the plate! Bizopia is still crazy-busy, good problems to have. Again, so blessed to have such a great team to work with. Great social media team in the “Social Cave” and the “quiet side” guys (great customer service and web design)…we try to keep things stirred up just to keep them on their toes.

If you need help with your website or online presence, give me a call and we can chat! Hope you and yours are doing FABULOUSLY!

Look…I got a post up on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Extra points for this one! #GoodIntentions

Just Here for the Boos

Posted on October 31, 2016 by admin Posted in Family & Kids .

Well…it looks like this is the first Halloween that none of the kiddos will be home. The Marine is in Cali sporting a USA inspired ZootSuit, the Aggie is at school planning something Blue Mountain State themed (saw the Amazon purchase) and the Tree is headed to a party close to home, but not at home. Can’t WAIT to see what his costume will be. I’m prepared with a few green leaves 🙂

It’s all good! We have AWESOME neighbors to hang with…if I had known things would work out like this, I would have gotten us all shirts that say, “We are all here for the Boos!” We’ll still pop the tent, fire up the fog machine & strobe light, sit at the end of the driveway together, and give out candy! Hope we have some kids this year, last year was very very quiet. The community is just getting older.

Fort Bend Gridiron Football had their 7th Super Bowl yesterday. Can’t believe it’s been seven years already. Wow. What a team we have made up of youth sports aficionados, that assembles every year for this big shin-dig! What a gorgeous day, not a cloud in the sky, as FBISD Mercer Stadium was home to our crew from 9:30a to 8:30p. Long day, but so worth it. Lessons of being champions and lessons in losing played out right before your very eyes. And you know what I decided? Adults can really make or break it. With cheerleaders dealing with not receiving trophies like the football players to parents that just can’t deal with losing, we saw a little bit of it all! And for the most part, everyone handled things pretty good. No serious injuries on the football field, thank goodness. One pretty bad “finger nail” injury. I have never seen that before….nail lifted at the lunula/lower cuticle and stayed attached at the top. The look on that 9-10 years old’s face said it all. GET ME OUT OF HERE NOW!

Twelve Baseball 15U’s made a VERY strong showing at the Alief Hastings tournament by Crump Stadium. Great families hanging out on a beautiful day together…..I don’t look forward to those days ending. Keep ’em coming! Not sure where Team Advantage is from, but the CF Eagles (CyFalls) players looked strong.

Our Aggies won big as expected, so we could keep an eye on the game while chatting with friends and neighbors in the back yard. Just fun hanging. Stayed out WAY TOO LATE prior the baseball/super bowl Sunday, but it’s always worth hanging with this crew! It might have gotten a little too “political” but 10 days out….it’s expected with this group!

Gotta get back to work on a MAJOR search engine optimization project. New site. New content. Just new. Thought I’d throw an update up! Hope you get some good BOOS tonight!

Remy Family Update

Posted on March 9, 2016 by admin Posted in Alex, Chase, Family & Kids, Grant .
REMY - Initial R

REMY - Initial RHi y’all! First time back after the VERY emotional send off of Chase to USMC Boot Camp in San Diego. Many of you have touched base, and for that, I’m very appreciative. Chase seems to be handling things fine. His letters are a HIGHLIGHT of every day that goes by. The mail people are probably wondering why the Remy’s mailbox is suddenly empty every single day. That was NOT the case prior to Chase leaving – ha! He’s in San Diego, not Parris Island, SC. West of the Mississippi River heads to California.

It’s an adjustment for all. Most of the serious adjusting is going on for Chase…but is it? The tears have for the most part stopped on my behalf and that energy has been channeled in to work, hobbies/volunteering, stalking the mail person and Grant. Poor Grant – feel sort of bad for the mail people too. Grant has texted Alex and told her that Gary and I were asking him “enough questions for 3 kids.” That is NOT the case. We’ve explained to him that if he would come out from behind the phone/computer/classwork, we wouldn’t hassle him by asking so many questions. He’s adjusting QUITE NICELY to having the upstairs to himself (especially the TV), that is until I go up there. Things are said along the lines of, “Oh…I guess Chase left his towels on the floor again. Oh Chase didn’t put toilet paper on the holder?” Get the picture? Chase and Grant share half of the upstairs 🙂

We’ve gotten about 6 letters from Chase. The first REAL letter was still exciting and just a brain dump of information. The letter I’m referring to is the letter I shared part of on my page on Facebook – the one that was titled “DEAR HOME.” Really, dear Home? After another 2 weeks went by, we decided the “Dear Home” letter covered all of us even though Alex doesn’t live at home. After a “serious adjustment of expectations” everything settled, and I simply scanned or screen-shotted the next few letters from Chase and shared them with Alex at school. She FINALLY got a letter from him. She was so excited that she texted Gary and I both with just a pic of the envelope – so excited! I’m sending Chase screenshots of his Facebook page, so feel free to leave comments there…he’ll get them!

Letters now more or less tell stories. The wisdom teeth extraction letter has DEFINITELY been the most colorful, but the first “Tornado Drill” was a very close second. Tornadoes are when the DIs (Drill Instructors) come in a “tornado” the squad bay. Bunk beds upside down. Mattresses out the windows. Foot lockers dumped and kicked around. The first letter also suggested that “some kids are acting like they’ve never been yelled at.” SCORE: Mom/Dad/Coaches 1 – Weenies 0.

Alex. She’s doing great. She’s VERY involved with her FLO – Freshman Leadership Organization. Her group is in charge of Maroon Out Shirts and Ring Dance (and other things, I’m sure). Things have changed so much at Texas A&M University. I don’t remember FRESHMEN having anything to do with Ring Dance, Pull Out, Elephant Walk, etc. I think I remember juniors planning Ring Dance. Who knows though? That’s a LONG time ago – over 30 years ago no. We are so proud of how she’s really embracing college life, and not holing up in a study carrel some where by herself. She’s making GREAT grades, making tons of new friends and handing things quite nicely. She’s also really excited as she will be helping out the New Territory Tarpons in a Head Coach position. On the swimming front, she’s also managing the Texas A&M Ladies’ swim team -Whoop!

People have probably heard me say this a jillion times: All athletes should have to coach 2 types of athletes at some point of their life and the earlier, the better. First type of athletes: the ones that don’t REALLY want to be there. Second type of athletes: the ones that want to be the best they can be and give the sport everything they have. She’s going to get a full year of BOTH TYPES! The New Territory Tarpons have both types on this recreationally competitive (that’s MY phrase, no one else’s) team in the SHRSL. The Aggie swimmers – WOW! What an opportunity to work with multiple Olympic swimmers that are trying to “do it again” and many going to NCAA’s (next week). She was taken on as a manager, but it really sounds like more than that. Message say “today I worked with the NCAA team.” HUH? I’m so happy for her – this is right up her alley. Her mommy was REALLY worried about the forced “cold turkey” on swimming. It didn’t last long and that doesn’t surprise me. She’s actually running practices, capturing splits – not your normal managerial duties…maybe if you have a swimming/coaching background yes, but a non-swimming, normal person, no. My swimming friends will understand this. It’s a #swimmingthing.

IMG_5602Grant. He’s LOVING baseball with Twelve. He’s loving being social. This “social behavior” is something a bit different with Grant than it was with the big two. The big kids’ “social acquaintances” for the most part, we knew because they were ALL SWIMMERS early on. Swimming kept them busy every afternoon after school and with doubles and weekend long meets, there wasn’t a ton of time to “hang out”…their hanging out was done with their training partners, at practice, and at meets. They went to school with these kids. Grant – not so much. He likes everyone for the most part and is enjoying Fridays after school and Saturdays, romping around the neighborhood until dark on his bike. LIKE WE DID! Fun to watch, and it’s a great group of kids he’s hanging with.

Baseball. Where do I start? Twelve plays just about every weekend, and both days. LOVE THE TEAM. I haven’t said that about too many baseball teams. LOVE THE COACH (Brandon Whitby). Again, NEVER said. The team will be playing in the Premier Texas League in Franklin, Texas, starting next weekend. It should give the boys (14U) a good look at what’s out there! Should be interesting. Now, let’s hope our 6′ 3”, gangly/floppy pitcher of a son stays healthy and continues to throw hard and accurate!

IMG_5532Dad. My Dad is holding up as good as can be expected after Mom’s passing. Adjusting to the quietness of the house AND catching up on all the things that were ignored while Mom was under the weather, have both been challenging. That being said, he’s managed to fish a time or two, clean up the yard, keep the fish and plants alive, make a few baseball games (ok – more than a few), band concerts and a few swim meets…and the swim meets – WEREN’T MY KIDS 🙂 Melinda’s daughter, Cousin Kayla is a swimmer. I think he’s even heading up to see Cousin Cameron in a Spring Concert. He’s managing. I haven’t successfully talked him on to Facebook though. It would be WAY TOO ENTERTAINING politically. Not sure he can handle that.

Off to work. Bizopia has an AWESOME new client, Moffitt Oaks – Houston Wedding Venue – just outside of Houston/Spring areas in Tomball. Y’all…..it’s SOOOOOO pretty! More on this soon….as Gary and I ponder weddings down the line. He will learn LOTS during the management of this account 🙂 Can’t wait………keep an eye out for a NEW, BEAUTIFUL website.

Out of here – stay dry Houston – this weather is UNPREDICTABLE to say the least.

Remys: 2015 in Review

Posted on February 5, 2016 by admin Posted in Family & Kids .
2015 Remys

2015 RemysAs it ALWAYS happens, 2015 was a crazy year for the Remys and Mel (me) is behind on posting on the family website. Lots of change in 2015 for our family and lots of fun! We just returned from Angel Fire, New Mexico on a family ski trip (guess I should say ski/boarding trip) last week. We made the trip with long time friends, The Byrnes, and just had a blast. Gary and I could still hang with the “kids” speed wise for the most part. I ski and will always ski – tried boarding once and decided I was just too “mature” to fall THAT hard, and hurt THAT bad 🙂 It’s fun – I get it….but it’s just not for me anymore! It had been 11 years since we were able to take the kiddos skiing – mainly because of our family’s swimming obsession (now it’s baseball!). Even after that amount of time, Gary looked great on the board. Chase was AMAZING and fearless. Alex skied and settled after about a full day of skiing. Grant….very cautious. VERY cautious 🙂 Me…I skied one “black” just to say “I did it and stayed mostly on the greens with Grant or blues.

Lots of family changes this year. Chase decided in December to leave Galvi & take classes at WJC while working with KP Designs Integrated AudioVideo and our good fried Kirk Plazinich. Late this summer, he decided school just isn’t for him right now, and will be joining the Marines (yes, I said Marines) in February 2016. This will take some adjustments on all of our parts, mainly his, but we are really proud of his decision. VOTE folks….vote for who you think will best protect our precious country. GET OUT and VOTE!

Alex graduated in June 2015 from Fort Bend Austin HS as the captain of the Bulldog Varsity Swim Team, with GREAT grades and landed herself acceptance to Texas A&M University – WHOOP (along with acceptance to other schools including University of Tampa’s Honors College along with a swimming scholarship). After many tears, back & forths and one serious concussion, Alex decided A&M would be her new home for the next few years WITHOUT her beloved sport of swimming, and has jumped in with both feet COMPLETELY “bleeding maroon!” A few trips a week to the pool keeps her passion alive and more announcements on that front to come soon 🙂

Grant is in 8th grade at Fort Bend Sartartia, and is cruising right along following in the big 2’s shoes. After 2 years of middle school football, and a TON of deep breaths on Mom & Dad’s parts’, Grant decided to give “leading his team as QB” a whirl…which makes sense considering his ability to throw a baseball. That being said, he “football pass form” looks EXTREMELY SIMILAR to that of his pitching – you make the decision whether it’s supposed to look like that 🙂 Grant is perfectly suited as a QB as he’s 6’2″ and can more than see over his line. Coordinating his feet…well, that’s another story. Most of his time is spent these days with the baseball organization, TWELVE. Based out of College Station, he’s been privileged to play for the extension club in Katy and has an AMAZING coach in Brandon Whitby. It’s been a ride, but find me a baseball family that WOULDN’T say that.

Gary and I are still working long hours at Bizopia – both in the office and at home. The internet business/online marketing is NEVER done. There’s always something that needs to be done or can be done to help a client. We still have an AWESOME family at the office in Craig & Eric, and we’ve even added a few new young ladies on our social media team.

Crazy start to 2016….let’s keep it really crazy!
