Well, folks, we made it to 2025! Barely. If 2024 was a rollercoaster, 2025 so far feels like that moment when you realize you were never strapped in. Wow, this has been intense!
January started with everyone making the usual New Year’s resolutions—by February, we have witnessed a terror attack in New Orleans, another in Vegas, commercial airplane and helicopter crashes, political turmoil, and a tech giant managing the DOGE. Speaking of tech, AI is now writing better jokes than humans (don’t ask me how I feel about that), so here’s my AI attempt at asking Chat for a political joke: In 2025, politics have become so polarized that even the fact-checkers need fact-checkers. Funny, but not funny, ChatGPT.
Meanwhile, social media trends are out of control. There’s a new challenge where people try to homestead—until they realize they shouldn’t ask Google how to churn butter or raise chickens if they are truly serious about it. And let’s not forget the ongoing battle between Gen Z and Millennials, now fighting over whether side parts or middle parts are back again. Y’all – the struggle is real!
Resolutions, schmesolutions. We all need to try to be the best we can be, and good grief – be nice. I’m trying hard to get the website updated because, y’all, my family has grown by TWO (or 3) since the last time I updated and one kid has gotten married. I have to do better.
Chase and Shelby’s kiddos are amazing and will get their own shoutouts and praises this year! Why – because these little munchkins are FUNNY beings! More on that note later.
