the raggedy mom

Life can be a bit raggedy at times - but that's okay, right?

2015 Remys

Remys: 2015 in Review

2015 RemysAs it ALWAYS happens, 2015 was a crazy year for the Remys and Mel (me) is behind on posting on the family website. Lots of change in 2015 for our family and lots of fun! We just returned from Angel Fire, New Mexico on a family ski trip (guess I should say ski/boarding trip) last week. We made the trip with long time friends, The Byrnes, and just had a blast. Gary and I could still hang with the “kids” speed wise for the most part. I ski and will always ski – tried boarding once and decided I was just too “mature” to fall THAT hard, and hurt THAT bad ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s fun – I get it….but it’s just not for me anymore! It had been 11 years since we were able to take the kiddos skiing – mainly because of our family’s swimming obsession (now it’s baseball!). Even after that amount of time, Gary looked great on the board. Chase was AMAZING and fearless. Alex skied and settled after about a full day of skiing. Grant….very cautious. VERY cautious ๐Ÿ™‚ Me…I skied one “black” just to say “I did it and stayed mostly on the greens with Grant or blues.

Lots of family changes this year. Chase decided in December to leave Galvi & take classes at WJC while working with KP Designs Integrated AudioVideo and our good fried Kirk Plazinich. Late this summer, he decided school just isn’t for him right now, and will be joining the Marines (yes, I said Marines) in February 2016. This will take some adjustments on all of our parts, mainly his, but we are really proud of his decision. VOTE folks….vote for who you think will best protect our precious country. GET OUT and VOTE!

Alex graduated in June 2015 from Fort Bend Austin HS as the captain of the Bulldog Varsity Swim Team, with GREAT grades and landed herself acceptance to Texas A&M University – WHOOP (along with acceptance to other schools including University of Tampa’s Honors College along with a swimming scholarship). After many tears, back &ย forths and one serious concussion, Alex decided A&M would be her new home for the next few years WITHOUT her beloved sport of swimming, and has jumped in with both feet COMPLETELY “bleeding maroon!” A few trips a week to the pool keeps her passion alive and more announcements on that front to come soon ๐Ÿ™‚

Grant is in 8th grade at Fort Bend Sartartia, and is cruising right along following in the big 2’s shoes. After 2 years of middle school football, and a TON of deep breaths on Mom & Dad’s parts’, Grant decided to give “leading his team as QB” a whirl…which makes sense considering his ability to throw a baseball. That being said, he “football pass form” looks EXTREMELY SIMILAR to that of his pitching – you make the decision whether it’s supposed to look like that ๐Ÿ™‚ Grant is perfectly suited as a QB as he’s 6’2″ and can more than see over his line. Coordinating his feet…well, that’s another story. Most of his time is spent these days with the baseball organization, TWELVE. Based out of College Station, he’s been privileged to play for the extension club in Katy and has an AMAZING coach in Brandon Whitby.ย It’s been a ride, but find me a baseball family that WOULDN’T say that.

Gary and I are still working long hours at Bizopia – both in the office and at home. The internet business/online marketing is NEVER done. There’s always something that needs to be done or can be done to help a client. We still have an AWESOME family at the office in Craig & Eric, and we’ve even added a few new young ladies on our social media team.

Crazy start to 2016….let’s keep it really crazy!
